A small but elite field of young talent has launched the 2014 Stand Up World Series in Brazil this weekend with Fanatic’s Angela Jackson winning the Women’s contest and Jake Jensen scoring 2nd overall! The reinvigorated Aussies simply proved to be too strong for a select group of local and international paddlers.
Day 1 of the Alagoas Pro saw the Sprint races with Angela taking out all her competitors winning the Women’s and Jake coming in 3rd in the Men’s. On the second day, the Long Distance races took place and here too, Angela Jackson proved to be the best – she won this race as well which made her first place overall unassailable. Jake Jensen took 3rd place in the Men’s Long Distance race and with Kai Lenny fading badly over the distance and limping home in 10th this secured him the 2nd place overall! Paul Jackson unfortunately wasn’t in best shape being sick already before the contest but still took 11th overall.
Angela Jackson: “So happy to win here in Brazil on the first stop on the World Tour, what a great start! Stoked for my team mate Jake Jensen on second place as well. Big thanks to Paul Jackson for being such a great supportive hubby I think abu dhabi will be his time to shine. Jet Leake u are the best trainer ever. Thanks Fanatic for the best Raceboards and support. Here is to a big year to trying to win a world title!”
Jake Jensen: “Awesome racing today manage to pull into 2nd place for the overall and the World Series ranking so far this year. Now it’s time to say good bye Brazil and hello to Abu Dhabi and the second stop of the series.”
Also well done to Kai Bates for making it to the 4th round in Wave contest and finishing 9th! He´s also in 9th position overall for the moment.
Congrats to all! Next stop Abu Dhabi – good luck there!
