Last weekend local and international sailors competed in the main event of the Lancelin Ocean Classic Marathon in Australia. Fanatic´s Peter Volwater (H-24) from Holland, took out the competition to win the $6000 prize money! Peter kept on planing during the whole course of 26km and finshed in a bit more then 35 minutes, 30 seconds before the 2nd Jesper Orth, an absolute record for this event!
Volwater said after the race: “After the shocker I had last year, I was really pleased to come in first this year. Thanks to all the people, who made the event possible. It’s great to see everyone – it’s the highlight of my summer!”
Laure Treboux of Switzerland won the womens wave sailing event and started with a victory in the 2012 season. Laure is currently the number two Freestyle in the world, but also trains hard in waves while spending her wintermonths in Western Australia.
Well done Peter & Laure!!!
