The brand new PWA Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival proved to be a huge success as waves and nuclear winds, gusting to 60 knots, hit the shores of Pozo.
Fanatic´s Victor Fernandez was in the men’s winners’ final and finished 2nd behind Philipp Koster. Victor tried some new moves in the waverides, quite spectacular to watch! Congratulations Victor - incredible sailing!
Victor: "I´m very stoked to start the year in a good position. I had to take more risk in the final but I could not land the waves moves as I wish. Next week I´ll try my best in El Medano.I was feeling very confident in my new gear."
Our seventeen-year-old Pozo rider Alessio Stillrich won the youngsters competition earlier in the week but he also progressed to the fourth round of the double elimination as he knocked out two Brits in quick succession, firstly Adam Lewis (Patrik / Point-7) and then the vastly experienced John Skye (RRD/Mystic / MFC) as he impressed with his super tweaked pushloops. Stillrich showed that he is a major a threat and definitely a sailor to watch out for in the future - watch out!
Klaas Voget finished in 7th place, hehad quite a good battle against Swifty and lost it in a very close decision.
Klaas: I'm happy with my start of the PWA season, next stop Tenerife - starting on the 12th July. Forecast looks great again!"
Also the girls did really well, Laure Treboux finished 5th, Astrid Muldoon 6th and Dutch newcomer Eva Oude finished 7th, so also here we have 3 Fanatic riders in the Top Ten!
Well done to all - next stop is El Medano/Tenerife, good luck there Team Fanatic!
