Jake Jensen has taken out the ‘The Doctor’ ocean race in Perth (Western Australia), Angela & Paul Jackson finished 2nd and Aussie rider Ben Tardrew ended in place 7.
The Doctor in Perth is Australia’s most exciting ocean paddling event from Rottnest Island to Sorrento Beach covering 27kms (or vice versa depending on wind conditions) – a battle between many of Australia’s finest.
It was a super close racing alround this year in the guys and girls, with a quick start to the race Jake Jensen and Beau O’Brian jumped to a 20m lead at the first turn with PaulJackson in 3rd with super tight racing for the next 27km it was Jake who stood up and showed that he is focused on this year and put a small gap on Beau with Paul coming in a close 2nd and 3rd. Paul had a front row seat to all the lead action and it seemed to be a great race for him too. With the top three going under record time it really shows the level in Australia lifting another notch!
Also Karla Gilbert and Angie Jackson took out a close battle in the ladies race. Both were paddling a similar pace almost the entire 27.5km from Rottnest to Sorrento, however Karla was just a bit too strong in the end and took the win by 49 seconds.
Angie, Paul & Jake are on a whole new training program this year and seems you can see the changes already – this was a great hit out and only the start of a massive year ahead! All riders we using a production Falcon in 24.75 inch width.
