Ben Proffitt is British Wave Champ 2006!
2006/11/07
Bad conditions have plagued the British wave tour this year. Events in Wales, England and Ireland all didn’t produce good enough conditions to run a official competition. So with one competition left (Isle of Wight) and a bad forecast things were not looking good.
But the Isle of Wight has it’s own rules and despite a really bad forecast it still delivered good enough conditions to run a full round of Freestyle and an official round of waves.
In the Freestyle it was Ben Proffitt (Fanatic/Simmer) who made the most of the gusty side off conditions and came out on top, with Chris Audleys (Fanatic) taking 2nd and Andy King 3rd.
The wave results were a carbon copy of the Freestlye with Ben Proffitt again coming out on top with Audsley 2nd and King 3rd. The conditions weren’t the best, but the guys were still busting out Backloops, Forwards, Pushies and Shaka’s and getting some half decent waves... even if they had to ride onto the rocks!
Due to the Isle of Wight being the only official wave competition this year. It makes Ben Proffitt the National Wave Champion and Chris Audsley 2nd. So a good result for the Fanatic team!!!
