All the big names and more have thrown down their gauntlets, and registered today for the Slalom 42 racing at Sotavento, Fuerteventura. 2005 Joint World Champions Micah Buzianis (US-34 JP / NeilPryde), and Bjorn Dunkerbeck (E-11, North Sails), are joined by tour leader Antoine Albeau (F192 Starboard / Neil Pryde Sails), and many more in the full 44 man fleet. 2005 World Champion Karin Jaggi (Z-14, F2/ North Sails) has tough competition too with 2005 runner up Allison Shreeve (AUS-911 F2 / NeilPryde), Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA-444), and Verena Fauster (ITA-31 F2 /Gaastra) all hungry for glory.

From 21st through 26th July the best of the best racers will stun the crowds on Sotavento’s white sandy beaches with high speed, high octane racing action at the Rene Egli windsurf centre that's hosted this magnificent event for over twenty years. A maximum of 15 races will be run with rocket fast downwind courses, and full fleet long distance races likely.

The spectacle doesn’t stop after dark either. A mammoth 3000sqm metre party tent rocks each night with bands, DJ’s and full on apres-surf entertainments. With grandstands on the beach the crowds flock to the south of this beautiful Canary Island to rub shoulders with the stars.

Then, from 27th July through 31st July, there’s a change of gear when the Freestylers hit town to show off their mind-bending repertoires of sliding and aerial tricks.

You can follow every move right here throughout the event with live ticker updates, elimination ladders, movie clips, daily summaries and more.
