The New FANATIC SUP line FLY comes to Fanatic the Boarders Center Lanzarote!

Russell Groves, addicted Boarder & local FBC special tester reports:
"Several weeks after hearing of the new SUP line of Fanatic, a few days ago finally the cartons arrived at our Fanatic The Boarder´s Center in Lanzarote which is always really exciting… Which one do we open first? Well it has to be the 10'6''. How big is it? The first impression is - it's huge! We were immediately impressed with the quality of both the boards and the paddle. I use a custom 8'6'' in the surf, so I had ordered a 10' for use on flat water - what a sweet looking board….
Luckily for us the day the boards arrived was very light wind, so within half an hour we were down to the beach to give them a test! The boards are thick so they look heavy but they are actually a very good weight (light for a SUP) and easy to carry. The handle is positioned well and is deep enough to get a good grip with your fingers. On the water the balance point is around the handle, which is good as the center of volume is equal to the weight distribution.
In the tri-fin setup the board paddles straight and stable, but I prefer the single fin setup as I feel it is a bit faster plus more responsive to steering strokes and foot pressures. The volume distribution is very good, with plenty of volume on the nose which means you can trim the board easily. You can therefore stand further forward to give a longer waterline length for speed and make the board track straighter. It is also very easy to step back to make turns faster.
The standard paddle works very well. It is light and the plastic blade (though it flexes a bit), makes it very comfortable. The overall impression from the clients is that they were surprised how easy it was, and so much fun!
In light wind and flat water the board is super fun with a small rig. Old school freestyle is a dream - the board turns well and even though it doesn’t have a dagger board, it’s easy to rail ride. The board also picks up speed well and gives a great retro ride bringing back many happy memories of the good old days!
Now to take it into some small waves & these boards catch waves so easily! They have a very light feel and because of their stability it’s very easy to step back. I was a bit worried that the thickness of the board would make them hard to turn. Wrong! I was so surprised with my first bottom turn, nearly exiting the wave, they turn really well. Even Pablo and Noah our youngest riders can throw these boards around. In small waves I use the single fin configuration because I like a very loose feel, but when the wave has a little bit more power you definitely need the tri-fin setup for grip. I still have to try it with a rig in waves but from what I have found so far I will not be surprised to find that it will be great fun.
Well done Fanatic for providing us with another great toy to play on the water!"
