PL: Hi Victor and first of all, I wish all the best for 2010 and for sure your first PWA wave world title! That's the reason why I contact you... After release of 2010 PWA calendar, it looks that you will be one of the favorites this year and that's why I prepared some questions for an interview.

PL: PWA released 2010 wave events calendar few days ago with 3 "European" events... What is your point of view about places and calendar?
VF:From my point of view the 3 events we have this year are very good locations for doing wave events. Just missing some other great contest like Cabo Verde, Guincho, Tiree or Maui. I quite like the 3 events we have this year, I´ve sailed those spots a lot in the last few years and I will do my best.

PL: You are one of the best waveriders in european conditions after your various victories in Pozo and good places in Sylt, so this calendar looks to be a good news for you ?
VF: Well, I like the locations a lot because these conditions fits good to my sailing with variation of jumping and waveriding.

PL: Who will be other favorites this year and why?
VF: I think there are a lot good riders who can do good these year,in the past year the tour has been very much portak conditions so riders as Kauli, Philipe, Klaas, Jonas, Alex, and some others can do very good because they are very good competitors.

PL: You are actually in South Africa for testing new boards with Fanatic team... What do you think about quad protoypes that you test actually?
VF: Yes, actually I´m in Cape Town with Craig,Klaas and Marcilio testing some proto Quads that we will send to production soon for the 2011 board range. I´m very happy with the result of it specially in waveriding conditions we make a big step in the new boards. We had a lot of testing since last summer until now, starting in Guincho, Pozo, Klittmoller, Reunion, Chile and now in Cape Town.

PL: Can you tell us about the beginning of your trip is South Africa and big conditions?
VF: The conditions in Cape Town this year are firing! Most of the riders that come here every january never saw as many big swells as we are having those days. For me was very
impressive too, I came out from the plane on the 11th of January and that day was the day of the big swell and I went with the guys straigh to beach for having the first session at Milnerton. Then we drove North to Haakgat and the waves were massive, mast an a half with
some solid 2 mast sometimes and wind for 4.2/4.5m². It was one of these days that you won´t forget!!!

PL: How will you prepare your season before first wave event in July?
VF: My season is starting here in Cape, I come back to Almeria in February and my travel destinations for training and photoshoots are Chile in March, then Maui, Almería and Pozo.

Thanx to Philou & Victor!!!
