The PWA event in Costa Brava is over and Pierre Mortefon claims his first event victory of the year, while also taking the lead in the race for the 2016 PWA Slalom World Championship! Well done also to Jordy Vonk in 4th, who was missing out on 0.3 points to get on the podium!
After a long waiting period the final day it didn’t look like it would be possible to complete anymore racing with the conditions remaining extremely light throughout the day. However, the wind kicked in, in the dying hours of the event to produce a frantic finale, which began with several sailors desperately scrambling their equipment to the beach in order to make their heats — with the arrival of the wind catching many off guard. Pierre and Jordy both managed to defend their positions from the opening day.
Pierro: “I am super happy to be back on top here in Costa Brava after a hard week… Super stoked to win this event for the first time! I also want to congratulate my team mate Jordy Vonk who was sailing super consistant with his gear, great performance!”
