For the fourth successive year El Médano delivered fantastic wind and waves for the Tenerife PWA World Cup as the elite of the wave sailing world delivered an enthralling show. By the end of a fascinating week, Victor Fernandez finished 3rd and Klaas Voget 5th.
Victor Fernandez fought his was back through the double elimination to claim the final place on the heralded podium, as he continued his brilliant start to the season. However an interference versus Traversa saw him lose his highest wave score. Without the interference Fernandez would’ve secured at least second place, but third still represents a solid display. On the penultimate day the 2010 World Champion was in a world of his own, as he earned perfect tens from the judges for his incredible wave riding. Many of the pros and locals believe that his evening display on day four is the best they have ever seen El Cabezo sailed, and he may be slightly disappointed that the competition was not completed in those same conditions.
Klaas Voget completed the top five with another accomplished display. He for sure delivered some of the best wave riding of the week, with vertical, powerful gauges and frontside airs to move up to fourth overall in the world rankings.
We are also super happy for Alessio Stillrich, who showed sick performance in the Super Session as well as Noah Voecker-Roche, who finished 2nd in the Youth competion and 1st in the Junior´s Super Session!
Victor still leads the overall world rankings at this stage as he goes in search of his first world title since 2010!
