Tobias Bjørnaa is the son of our Danish rider Mads Bjørnaa. He is only 12 years old and just loves windsurfing, preferably he is ripping some waves at his Danish home spots together with his dad. Tobi is competing in the PWA junior fleet and is the PWA Youth Champ 2018 U13. Last year he also won at the Victor Fernandez Youth contest in Almerimar, this year unfortunately there weren´t any waves, but he still had a blast with the gang. And he is already training for the PWA tour in summer, so for sure we will hear his name again soon!

At what age did you start windsurfing?
I am already windsurfing since 7 years. I already started when I was 5 years old. When I saw my dad doing it I just was determined to try it myself, so he started teaching me at the lake with beginners gear. Already then all I wanted to do is riding waves.
Who/what did that inspire you to start windsurfing?
My dad! He just loves windsurfing and the rest of the family always came with him to the beach to watch him. I literally could do all of his moves in my mind from watching him.
How do you reconcile school and windsurfing?
I try to study as hard as I can when there is no wind, so I can go on the water when it´s windy! My school is pretty cool and they give me time off when I have to go to some events. I live in Klitmoeller, so it´s really easy to go windsurfing!
Do you do any other kinds of training besides windsurfing?
Yes, I go to the Gym to work out twice a week and I go surfing in the waves.
Do you have a coach?
Yes my dad – best coach ever!
Do you have any idols in windsurfing?
Victor Fernandez – he is a legend!
Which move do you want to land next?
Right now I am working on the Pushloop!
