INFO

When and where did you start Wing Foiling? I started wingfoiling in 2020 with my surf foil in Fuerteventura. I was going directly to the wave and that was so good! I was stoked how easy you can catch the wave. Even on little and slow waves you get a lot of speed. You are more scared to wing foil 1m than to surf 4m.

What’s your watersports history – from which side did you enter Winging? First, I have learned surfing at the age of 6. When I was 16 years old, I began to participate in stand-up competitions, at 19-year-old I started kiting and surfing big waves and one year later foiling and wing foiling.

What do you love about Wing Foiling? You can wing everywhere when it’s windy. When the wind is light or strong you can almost ride the same stuff. You can go on the wave and it’s very challenging even if it’s small. I also love the freestyle part because you can jump so high with the power of the foil.

What’s your favourite conditions? My favourite condition is when the wind is light with about 14 to 17 knots. That is just what I need to take off with 45L onto the waves and they are cleaner. So, waves and light wind are my favourite conditions! I also like strong winds for jumping high.

What’s your top advice for a beginner? Take a foil lesson behind a boat to learn how to foil and afterwards take the wing and go. Be careful with offshore winds, if you have no safety.

Boom or handles? Hard handles, but it also depends. Sometimes I prefer the boom and sometimes the hard handles.
