Vincent Langer wins title defense at Multivan Surf Cup

Vincent Langer wins title defense at Multivan Surf Cup

After five exciting competition days on Sylt Vincent Langer (GER-1) is crowned as the German Windsurfing Champion 2017! In the Racing discipline, the decision was already made on Thursday. Five races took place and Vincent left no no chance for the competitors. The final decision for the overall title was made with the Slalom discipline. Before the final day, Gunnar Asmussen was in the lead. Only by overtaking Gunnar, Vincent could defend his title. And he took his chance. He had a perfect start and could control the race from the beginning and secured the overall title!

With a total of 130,000 visitors, the Multivan Surf Cup Sylt 2017 presented a new visitor record. Due to the unique sporting result, the event can be described as “historic”.

Vincent: “The last days were incredibly exhausting. Not only physically, because we have done so many eliminations, but also mentally. I could hardly sleep the last night, and when this morning looked critical with the wind, my hopes faded. I was very happy when we were able to ride the Slalom in perfect conditions. This overall title was definitely the most exhausting but certainly the most beautiful – happy to have it won again!”

Overall Results:
1st GER-1 Vincent Langer (Fanatic/NorthSails)
2nd GER-2 Gunnar Asmussen (Starboard, Severne Sails)
3rd GER-208  Leon Jamaer (Neilpryde, JP Australia)
